Older vehicles that are sitting make tempting homes for a variety of animal species. Spiders, snakes, rodents and insects can all find their way into the crevices and sheltered spaces inside of a vehicle. While finding any of Mother Nature’s special creatures inside of your ride isn’t usually a pleasant experience, on Houston native might have the record for the worst possible find. His International Scout’s quarter panel was completely infested with bees. The Scout had been sitting, awaiting restoration when, it’s presumed, a scout colony of bees noticed the rust holes in the bottoms of the rockers. Realizing that there was plenty of space inside the Scout, the entire colony moved in and proceeded to set up shop. There’s no word on what happened that tipped the owner off to the existence of the hive (though we no doubt bet there was a lot of screaming and running) but the owner called in a professional beekeeper to remove the hive without killing the bees. After cutting a patch out of the quarter, you can see the extent of the takeover. There’s no word on whether or not the Scout’s owner managed to get any of the honey from the hive, either. Oh, bother.
“Oh, bother.”
Bryan, you’ve just won the internet!
I’m glad that both the ‘Binder and the hive were saved.
Seriously, +1 for the Pooh reference.
I take it the mechanic was disguised as a little black raincloud?
