Every car has a human element behind it, a story to the car itself. Sure, you can look at the pretty paint, smell the aromas of the interior, and listen to the sound of the exhaust all day long, but that only takes you so far. The story of how the car came to be, who owned it, and what they did with that set of wheels…that, friends, is the part of the car’s history that is worth listening to, the older the car, the better. Remember the guys who drew it up, the souls who bashed, beat, welded and painted metal in some kind of Fantasia sorcery that turned about two tons of metal into the object of desire that was worth plonking down hard-earned coin on.
Take this 1969 Lamborghini Miura S. This car was owned by a guy named Earl, who bought the car as a retirement gift to himself brand-new. This wasn’t a cheap pat on the back, either…at just over $20,000 brand new, the Miura would be well over $130,000 today. Earl loved the car, was meticulous about the car, but Earl was no spring chicken, and as the years went on the Miura slowly became a garage queen. Enter Jeff…on a tip from a friend, he found and befriended Earl as he was chasing down a rumor involving an orange Lamborghini somewhere in the country. Over time, Jeff learned more and more about the car, and when Earl finally moved on to a better place, Jeff acquired the Muira. It’s not what you should call “restored”…Jeff has insisted that the car not become a perfectly restored car, because he wants the Lamborghini to remain as it was. That’s the original orange paint. That’s the way it would have been way back when. And that’s how people see the car when he takes it out to drive it. How’s that for a car’s story?

What an incredible car and story, really amazing how it found the perfect home and owner, great seeing it driven as intended, just plain WOW!
I saw this car about 20 years ago on a TV show called PM magazine. They were talking to Earl and his brother because they had been on a NY Yankees world series team when they were younger. They showed the mining town they were building, and at the last they showed this car that was Earls and…a gold supercharged Cord that belonged to his brother..Any idea what happened to that car ?
