Every car ever built has had a fan. It doesn’t matter if it’s the opulent coach built monster of the 1920’s that is the coveted item for any and every collector or it’s the daily beater that has dutifully served anyone who has held the keys. Every car has it’s place, and that’s not meant to be a statement analogous to a participation ribbon: every car really does have it’s place. Yet, deal with car people and you’d be lead to believe otherwise, especially once you start getting into brand loyalties. Arguments and yes, even fights have broken out over which car is the best out there. Is it worthwhile? For years I’ve said no…every car has a reason, every car has something notable. But tell that to a crowd of Australians in the middle of a Holden vs. Ford argument. Tell that to the all-Mopar guy at Barrett-Jackson when a Ford is crossing the stage. Tell that to a Ferrari owner…we wish you the best of luck. But there is at least one Ferrari owner who sees the problem with the picture. His name is John Pogson. He is the owner of the Ferrari Mondial QV you see here, he’s an accomplished Ferrari racer and mechanic, and he puts into words what needs to be said best: just enjoy these cars and enough with the “better than” arguments.
