“Car porn”. This phrase is used to describe an automotive-themed photo or video that depicts something so amazing and/or beautiful it leaves you as slack-jawed as the first time you caught a glimpse of a girlie mag.
Well, that is how I imagine the phase is meant to be used. These days it seems that the phrase is trotted out every time someone takes a snapshot of their Civic’s newly spraypainted wheels and slaps an Instagram filter on it. If that’s car porn, it’s equivalent to the smut that I imagine one would find in one of those blacked out tents at the flea market, the one manned by the overweight guy with the greasy skin and the cheap sunglasses that is pretending to read a magazine while people nervously browse through his used wares.
The video below, however, is worthy of the title “Car Porn”:

– Makes you envious that you’re not the one doing the driving: Check
Much like real porn, the talking parts are a little cheesy (Or right up your alley if you’re into thick accents and subtitles…To each their own) and I wish the music was a little bit quieter so that I could hear more of the intimate action (I’m obviously talking about the engines and driving here…), but overall this video is top notch. Unlike the Gymkhana videos and other high production action videos that feel like a Hollywood blockbuster, this is a low key affair that takes its time slowly panning over each of the cars and lets you soak in the details from each one. Think of it as the Playboy to Ken Block’s Hustler.
While the Porsche 962 is the only one of the group to achieve notable success, the Jaguar XJ220C and Maza 767 are still beautiful to watch and hear, especially the Jaguar as it launches through a tunnel and out onto the highway where it hits what looks to be a top speed of 186 MPH for a moment or two.
