Video Tribute: Todd Gartshore, the Face and Co-Founder of Baer Brakes, passed away this weekend.

Video Tribute: Todd Gartshore, the Face and Co-Founder of Baer Brakes, passed away this weekend.

If you spent any time around Todd Gartshore, you learned a few good things. He had great sayings, told awesome jokes, and turned on his spokesperson face whenever it was needed. He would not write up an announcement using the language I am about to use. The good thing is, he would expect nothing less from me…   I have had the pleasure, on multiple occasions over the past 10 years, to drink with, hang out with, and even get into trouble, with Todd Gartshore. It sucks ass that we are writing an announcement saying that he is no longer with us, and I’m not feeding you a line of bullshit when I tell you that his early departure will have a real effect on the aftermarket, events, etc. As the face of Baer Brakes, Todd was a regular fixture at shows, races and events of all kinds, and ultimately he got it and made the rest of us look better because of it.

Because he got it, Todd never once treated us like we were some stupid goofballs trying to write about cars. He understood that we are the real deal here at BangShift and, while we arguably march to the beat of a slightly drunk drummer, are not doing this for the big paycheck, but instead because it is what we love. Todd was always there for advice, support, and guidance and we appreciate it more than he will ever know. While his death pisses us off, and makes us feal bad, I will drink tonight thinking of the great time I had with todd 5 weeks ago while on the 48 Hour Camaro build. He was his normal fun loving self off camera, and his normal perfect spokesperson on camera. I wish we had video of the former rather than just the latter, but the memories will be there always.

To Beth, Todd’s lovely wife,

I feel incredibly lucky to have witnessed Todd’s adoration of you over the years. Whether sitting at a bar on Power Tour beside you, or at a car show with the guys, Todd’s infectious smile was overwhelming when speaking of you. I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow that you and the family are going through, but know that we are thinking of you and are here if you need anything.

We’ll keep you posted on details on funeral services and well wishes as we get them.

Great write up. Did not know him like many did, but what I did was only positive. The guy was so kind and friendly and more than anything genuine. Someone I always looked forward to talking with. Todd, thank you for your gift to all of us. You are missed right now.

You will see many who talk about Todd and I will bet you that everyone of them will tell you how he became a friend. I too will say that Todd always had his finger on the pulse of the industry and was always willing to share his understanding of it. Todd was always ready to help and to get involved with almost any project and serve on any committee. He will be deeply missed. May GOD bless Todd, his family and friends.

It is truly a sad day for the automotive community, with the loss of Todd. I’ve had many good times and great conversations with him! A one in a million personality. We’re going to miss you old friend!

The performance aftermarket lost a truly wonderful person Sunday with passing of Todd Gartshore. A gentleman, a passionate motorhead and a truly thoughtful person?Ǫthey broke the mold when they made Todd. From his days at HKS, Vortech and then at Baer Brakes, Todd?

As one looks back on their own life there are a mere handful of people who truly make an impact on ones own life, career paths, and future. Todd was this very person in mine – and I’m sure he was to many of you reading this … RIP my friend … rip…

Nice write up Chad. I’ve had the pleasure of being friends with Todd since the Dallas days and there was no one else like him. From the occasional late night festivities to days on the Power Tour to great times all over the country you couldn’t ask for a better friend, advisor and co-conspirator. RIP
