Winter Is Coming, So Here’s Some Snow And Ice Fun To Watch…Police Included!

Winter Is Coming, So Here’s Some Snow And Ice Fun To Watch…Police Included!

Have you noticed a chill in the air yet? Here at BangShift Mid-West, we sure have. Apparently we’re skipping that pleasant, still-kinda-warm Autumn weather and in it’s place, we’re going full post-Halloween: soggy, gray and sucky. Could be worse, however…you could be one of the lucky ones along the Rocky Mountains or in the prairie states that is already seeing snowfall. Which brings up winter, snow, ice, wintertime driving, and all of the fun that comes along with it. Truth be told, we’ll probably be posted up in our heated areas and will only come out once the snow is deep enough to have fun in…kind of like what these Brits were lucky enough to play in at the beginning of the year.

Before you cry out about safety, legality, or whatever…just don’t. I’m actually a fan of this sort of thing, provided that those who are having fun in an otherwise empty parking lot do it safely and keep an eye out for others. Some of my best driver’s training came in the parking lot of a closed-down King Sooper’s grocery store in Colorado Springs after a half-foot of snow fell from the sky one night. Everywhere else there was virgin snow, but in that parking lot it looked like a downtown road in Maine, with plenty of drift marks, donuts, Rockfords and other activities that are certainly bad ideas on snowy public roads. Have a bit of responsibility when you go out and do this kind of thing. Just don’t expect our cops to be as cool as the ones that showed up at this meet…I’ve yet to see Officer Friendly throw his P71 sideways through a snowbank for community relations.

The cops had more important things to do, and since there were no pedestrians wandering about there was little risk to safety. They would have done something if they saw the guys on the sledges and signs being towed around though
