Jet Sprint Boat racing rules. It’s like Autocross on water, but with the added danger of actual land to run up on right next to the course. It’s been a growing sport for the past several years, and the reason we dig them is because they are hot rods, through and through. Usually powered by big and small block domestic V8s, there are blown, injected, nitrous, and turbo combos also becoming the norm. The hulls are all aluminum, weigh virtually nothing, and just plain haul ass. We want one!
This particular video is of a Quad Rotor, Rotary engine powered Jet Sprint Boat. It sounds different than any we’ve ever seen, and with 1300 plus horsepower it accelerates like the boat is being shot out of a cannon. In fact, watching it made us think about the old James Bond movies where they would speed up the film for boat or car chases. It’s so fast in real life it looks fake.
Watch the video below and let us know what you think about all the craziness going on here. Would you drive one? If you had one what would it be powered by? There is no wrong answer, cause you know we’ll dig it!
How could you not want to drive a boat that has to have a roll bar?
ah – power… turbo busa motor might be amusing.
Do they do this anywhere in the USA?
yes

That’s in New Zealand. The majority are V8 powered
I wish they would show more of this racing on TV.
That rotary doesn’t sound like a swarm of angry bees I normally see at a drag race. Just insane watching those boats turn.
F1 on water cool
Here is that boat on open water, it’s one fast unit!

MAV/TV has sprint boats on regularly. They seem popular in the northwest.
