When General Motors unveiled the 2002 GMPD Sunoco Heritage Camaro as part of the “final farewell” of the F-body, many a Camaro fanatic developed a small twitch in their eyelid. The 1967 Sunoco Camaro that raced in Trans-Am is one of the most iconic versions of the car ever created…it looks mean as all hell but in the right ways, was dipped to be lighter (among other modifications that pissed off the SCCA to no end) and had the backing of Roger Penske and the driving prowess of Mark Donohue. This is the Camaro that put GT-40s in the dirt and only had to worry about the Porsche 907…whether you are a GM guy or not, you have to give the car it’s due respect, and the 2002 Sunoco Heritage Camaro was an excellent variation of the outgoing Camaro, just too little, too late, and was always destined to be a showpiece rather than an angry racer.

But this 1994 Camaro is an angry racer, and it’s visually pretty damn close to the Sunoco Heritage car. It has undergone a full preparation for SCCA’s C-Prepared category, which means that this thing is a no-kidding weapon. From the very healthy grumble of the 383ci small-block at idle to the flared wheel arches and the massive rubber at all four corners, this Camaro is just begging for the chance to be unleashed at any given moment. This is the corner-carver that should have been from the factory, if GM hadn’t been sailing towards the financial iceberg in the 2000s. Yeah, it’s an automatic, and that might turn a few of you off, but it’s a GM four-gear automatic, one of the better ones for both power and abuse. It’ll hang with whatever you plan on dishing out. 

If there was ever a Camaro designed for abuse, this nasty little Z is it. The canyons and their corners are calling…answer back with your right foot!
