This 1973 Dodge D200 has the luck of a typical cat. When initially purchased by David Freiburger, it was going to be an engine donor for some multi-colored shell of a project that he was digging out of the weeds, but he liked the truck too much to cut it up, so it was sold. The next time we saw it was one of Tony Angelo’s first episodes at Hot Rod Garage, where the tired big-block and 727 trans were yanked out and some real fun began.

The beauty of building the same truck for twenty-one years is that any improvement made later on down the line can be easily applied to an older product. In this case, the Cummins inline-six diesel and 47RH automatic proved to be the godsend that Chrysler needed to move the otherwise antiquated Ram lineup. Prior to, the only diesel that Dodge trucks had received in this generation was a Mitsubishi-sourced 4.0L inline-six that made just over 100 horsepower. Fail. The Cummins, by comparison, was a game changer and caught Ford and GM off-guard. And Cummins sixes can be modded to within an inch of their lives…a fact not ignored b the Hot Rod Garage crew. The entire build is on YouTube and the media outlets, but the fact remains: there is a hot-rodded classic Dodge that needs a new home…and possibly a new coat of paint. Someone has to have an interest out there…any takers?

lets see if it can get sold without the bidding getting stupid

they would have been better off Not saying it was a magazine build and let it be a surprise to the winning bidder
