In the few times I’ve gone to SEMA, this is the first year that I can say without question that I found more imports that I wanted to bring home with me than ever. That is a genuine statement…the last couple of times you could make the “Fast and Furious” jokes, but this year there were some beautiful examples of vehicles from the world over that appeared. From the near-stock Land Cruiser that we would wheel out in the red rocks west of Las Vegas in seconds to Chip Foose’s eye-grabbing Pantera, the range is simply dictated by your tastes and budget. In particular, I fell in love with both of the Datsun trucks there, and just about every Nissan Silvia sporting Rocket Bunny’s “The Boss” body kit. And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the knockout 1973 Datsun 240Z owned by Sung Kang, better known as “Han” from The Fast and the Furious, which took home the Gran Turismo Award and will be made a playable car in the next Gran Turismo video game. Take a look through the photos below and see which ones make your list!
There is one import I do want to own one day, a BRE Datsun 510 recreation. I remember having an A/FX slot car like that!
