Summit again backs E.T. Series, Atlanta and Las Vegas events
Wednesday, July 15, 2009
Summit Racing Equipment, an industry leader in distribution of auto-racing parts and equipment through catalogs and the Internet, has renewed its series sponsorship of the NHRA Summit Racing Series through 2012. In addition, Summit Racing Equipment has renewed title-rights sponsorship of the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas and the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta.
“Summit Racing Equipment has been a long-standing supporter of NHRA Drag Racing,” said Gary Darcy, NHRA senior vice president-sales & marketing. “At all levels of the sport, from Sportsman to Professional, Summit Racing Equipment has shown time and time again its commitment to NHRA and the racing community.”
Summit Racing Equipment took over series sponsorship in 2000, and since that time, its involvement has been a huge boost to the series – the backbone of NHRA – which has provided exciting competition for the local racer since the mid-1970s. As many as 300,000 racers nationwide participate at 140 NHRA member tracks in the NHRA Summit Racing Series. As a result, it forms the world’s largest motorsports program in terms of racer participation.
“We look forward to continuing our support for Sportsman racers through the NHRA Summit Racing Series, which gives local racers a chance to compete on a national level,” said Jim Greenleaf, Summit Racing Equipment motorsports and events manager. “This program, along with our renewed sponsorship of national events on the NHRA Full Throttle Series circuit, allows us to support racers and fans at both the Sportsman and Professional levels.”
Among the most popular programs added in recent years has been the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship, conducted at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. The event brings the best of the best in each of NHRA’s seven divisions together at the end of the season to crown NHRA Summit Racing Series national champions. Since its introduction, the National Championship program has become a highlight of the season finale in Pomona and coveted by the weekly racers around the country as among the highlights of their racing careers.
Summit Racing Equipment has been the title-rights sponsor of the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas since the inaugural event in 2000; this agreement marks 12 years for Summit Racing Equipment as the title-rights sponsor of the popular destination event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Summit took over title rights of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals in 2002. Next year, the event at Atlanta Dragway will celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Founded in 1968, Summit Racing Equipment is the world’s largest mail-order and Internet supplier of performance automotive and truck equipment. Headquartered in Tallmadge, Ohio, the company has retail stores and distribution centers in Tallmadge; Sparks, Nev.; and McDonough, Ga.
