There is always a starting point to any car enthusiasts’ sickness, whether it was a car they spotted as a kid, a project worked on with family or friends, or the moment they realized they were having fun instead of being the terrified passenger that they probably should have been. In the case of Addison Lee’s 1965 Ford Mustang fastback, it was the driving experience itself that hooked him: the power of a V8 in a small and nimble car like an early Mustang etched itself into Lee’s bones and made a lasting change. Lee might have cut his teeth frying the hides off of the Shelby-painted Mustang, but he’s since moved on to be a successful wheelman, driving not only in SCCA Spec Mustang but in cars ranging from BMW E46s to McLarens and Radicals. He is also the general manager of Borelli Motor Sports and a driving coach to up and coming individuals. That’s an interesting line to take for someone who has a business degree that specializes in real estate, but that’s the kind of impact that a little bit of time behind the wheel of a hot Mustang as a kid can provide.
