We’re starting to see a trend of wheelchair-bound individuals getting into motorsports, and frankly, we love it. Hand controls are leaps and bounds from where they were even ten years ago and it’s the age of computerized horsepower. Rob Parsons and the hand controls in his Nissan make drifting a straightforward affair, so it’s not a big shock to see similar systems moving over to other motorsports venues…in this case, Australian burnouts. This Holden HT ute (Thanks, Steve!) is the typical full-on overkill burnout build we’ve come to know, but with hand controls used to wring the most out out of the blown engine. One hand on the throttle/brake/everything else and one hand on the wheel has to be a ton of work when whipping around a car on the skidpad, and we commend this lad for doing it and doing it properly.
Yep, thats a HOLDEN HT Ute there with a premier front end… Unbelievable that Rob can drive that thing with the hand controlls! What a top bloke!
yep spot on Steve, my dad had a wagon the same model… oh, and gotta love that number plate! funny and also appropriate for a guy overcoming big obstacles!
I have to say, I do not understand this activity one bit. It’s so lost on me. This is interesting for one car, after that I would walk away. People actually plan for this event. Hats off to the hand controls approach though.
