On Friday night at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals, driver Antron Brown in the Matco Tools, US Army top fuel dragster suffered a frightening top end crash at 318mph when the engine expired and the car spun out of control at the end of a run. Striking both walls and sliding to a stop hundreds and hundreds of yards past the finish line, the capsule style car protected Brown perfectly and he was able to extricate himself from the car before the lightning quick NHRA Safety Safari was on the scene (which was almost instantly after the bent and twisted race car actually stopped sliding).
Brown was checked by medical officials at the track, spoke to NHRA announcers and shared emotional hugs with friends, crew, and family members at the top end of the race track. The scary incident brought racing to an end for the evening and the action will pick back up on Saturday morning where sportsman qualifying and eliminations will continue alongside professional qualifying.
The video of this crash is stunning, made all the more dramatic because it happened at night, exaggerating all of the flames and sparks as the car impacted the wall and skidding to a stop.

VERY fortunate that the run was aborted by the other driver or it could have been a very bad wreck if both cars were involved
