Impact guns, or impact wrenches, have been around for a very long time so we are completely spoiled by them. Whether air operated, corded electric, or cordless, we’ve been around them for a very long time and they are the norm in one form or another in most folks garages. But what did people use before impact wrenches existed? Clearly a wrench with a cheater bar, or a breaker bar itself, would put big torque onto a fastener but what if that wasn’t always an option because of the environment you were working in? I hate it when I see someone smacking a wrench with a hammer, but it turns out that’s how the evolution of an impact wrench started.
