No, That’s Not Suspicious: Bad Thief Drags Safe Behind Town Car In Front Of Cops

No, That’s Not Suspicious: Bad Thief Drags Safe Behind Town Car In Front Of Cops

This week’s “Dumbest Criminals” award goes to 22-year-old Ryan Mullins. Mullins, from Swansboro, North Carolina, was spotted August 14, 2014 by police as he was using a Lincoln Town Car to drag an eight-foot-tall safe filled with prescription drugs to his house that he had stolen from a pharmacy. Originally he tried to stuff the safe into the Lincoln’s trunk, but when that plan didn’t work out, he tied the safe to the bumper with a rope and started dragging it home. He was initially arrested on DUI, and has since been charged with safecracking, breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods, and trafficking of opium or heroin.

According to police, Mullins thought that dragging the safe behind the car would cause the safe to open up eventually. He has a criminal history of drug-related offenses in his past. The only thing we can think of is that he watched Fast and the Furious 5 a few times and thought to himself, “Hmmm…” There’s no other good explanation.

“initially arrested for DUI”? What was his story at first “officer, I lost the combination so I was grinding the door off” “didn’t you grind popsicle sticks to points as a kid? I think we found where Mayberry actually was!
