Blog War Secret Weapon: An Immaculate 1939 Ford Woody Wagon 4×4 – This Thing Is AMAZING

Blog War Secret Weapon: An Immaculate 1939 Ford Woody Wagon 4×4 – This Thing Is AMAZING

Look, we’ve both rolled out wagons with crappy fake woodgrain on the sides but I’m the first to actually drop the woody hammer in this blog war and I am dropping it HARD. My choice for today’s scrap is this 1939 Ford Woody Wagon which has had the body completely restored and mounted on a Chevy Suburban frame. This thing has the looks of a classic woody and the functionality of a modern SUV. Is there a better combo than that? You can eat of every surface, it is one of just four like it ever built (as claimed by the seller) and just look at it. The woodwork is stellar, the paint is amazing, the color is perfect, and it just drips class from every corner. Yeah, the really diehard Ford crew may get tweaked that it is on a Chevy frame with a Chevy engine but c’amon. This is one of the few times the “trar” treatment actually enhances the looks and character of a vehicle rather than making it look like a Joe Dirt set prop.

The seller is asking $80,000 for this machine and while that is huge money, imagine what it cost to build in the first place? Unlike other restorations, you need to have a master woodworker involved to get this thing right and get it right they did. The dark woods you see are Mahogany and the lighter woods are Birds Eye Maple. Just go ahead and look up what buying the stock for this project would cost and your eyes will roll back into your head.

Is there another wagon that McTaggart can dredge up to compete with this one? HAHAHAHA Did I just ask that out loud? I did! Man, I kill me sometimes. In case someone forks over the cashola and the ad disappears here’s some info from the seller:

Nah. Compared to the Mopar wagon yesterday, this is weak sauce. The Chevy chassis and Chevy engine grates and a nice trar is still a trar. Swing and a miss.

  2. BeaverMartin

One of the best Trars I’ve seen. That being said the only way to top that Plymouth Savoy is to show up with a twin turbo RS6 Avant with Kate Upton in the passenger seat with a plate of brownies in her lap and a cooler of beer in the back.

    92 Burb chassis and driveline…
So 80k for a weakling V8 strangled to death by TBI and equipped with factory valve seal blow-by?

OK . I was wrong about yesterdays MOPAR being the end all to end all in the War of the Wagons .

THIS ! Is the winner ! By a country mile and a half . A resto modded woody 4×4 . THAT ! Is beyond cool . Functional as well for those of us in the snow belt .

So . Same winner [ Lohnes ] different wagon . Tell Bryan he’s a wimp what with his My Little Margie – Brady Bunch – Leave it to Beaver – Father Knows Best boring wagons .

It’s nice but I’d DQ it on price. I can’t even imagine owning something like this, while the Impala had me counting my money to see if I could swing it.

FAIL! Woodys should NEVER be 4X4s. Trar, yuk. Chevy in a Ford. Yuk! I like Chevys but stopp putting them in Fords!!!!

    Restored?
That’s not restored. That’s constructed. The only thing l can see that’s original, is the VIN and the title. Mind you at $80,000 it’s a good deal compared to the Legacy Power Wagon Woody at $269,000.
