We covered the heck out of Red Bull Frozen Rush 2015. From action photos on the mountain at Sunday River, Maine to an awesome tire testing trail ride with the people at BFG, that was one heck of a weekend. One thing we did not do however was to take you inside the trucks themselves and show you what the drivers were experiencing over the jumps, being blinded by the wash from other racers and their spiked BFG tires, sliding around corners, and bashing into each other in the air. THAT is the stuff we know you wanted to see and thankfully we got tipped off to a video by the fine people at Red Bull that does take you into the cockpit of these tube chassis, 900hp wonders.
The video is cool because it does not stick with one driver. You jump from truck to truck and basically see the best action from practice and racing. From Chad Hord’s near end landing at 80mph to Scott Douglas being completely blinded by snow off of Rob MacCachren’s studded tires this is something else. To a man, all the drivers said that they loved the experience and looked forward to the opportunity to do it again. They were also all kind of freaked out about how good the trucks hooked up in the snow but you saw the tires, which looked like something out of a horror movie. Those things would dig out on an ice rink!
Wanna drive a race truck in the snow? Here’s what it looks like!
