February 03, 2015 (Cookeville, TN) American Powertrain introduces its new X-Factor modular cross member for 1970-74 Camaros, Firebirds and Trans Ams. Made from powder coated T-6061 aluminum this cross member bolts to the original holes in the sub-frame and provides a strong, lightweight support for a long list of transmissions with no drilling or fabrication and provides clearance for up to 3.5” exhaust.
The X-Factor for early 2nd gen F-bodies is adjustable to fit the TREMEC TKO, T56 and Magnum, LGT700, Muncie, T-10, Saginaw and Richmond manual transmissions along with automatics ranging from the Powerglide and Turbo350 to the Turbo400, 700r4 and 4l60(e). It is compatible with common GM isolator mounts or American Powertrain’s ISO-X ballistic mount.
Each cross member comes with the modular aluminum center section, steel sub-frame mounting plates, adjustable height bridge plates and installation hardware and is tested to withstand over 1000ft-lbs of twist. The lightweight construction means big weight savings over steel, plus it looks cool.
