Words and photos by Kaleb Kelley) – Down here in the south, the car show season is already beginning again. Cars and Coffee this February in Plano, TX had a huge turnout. The first really good weather of the season brought people out in a big way. I rode with my dad in his ’71 C10 and we got there at about 7 o’clock and they were already turning people away. It seems like every month you have to be there earlier and earlier as it continues to grow. Yet again, I had an absolutely awesome time and I can’t wait for next year. I’m aiming to have Project Possum at the April show hopefully!
The biggest draw for this meet was the hypercar appearances. Gone is the day of the fastest and most expensive vehicles you can buy new being called supercars; now they are accurately called hypercars. They sectioned off an area with red rope completely for the Ferrari’s new creation, the LaFerrari. I find the name ironic because it literally means Ferrari The Ferrari. Major points to Ferrari for the creativity with their new halo car… When it showed up, people completely surrounded it and I couldn’t get a decent shot of it.
It’s surprising to me that the fastest cars in the world are hybrids, but it makes sense. The other hypercar hybrid that showed up was the stunning Porsche 918 Spyder. I am not a huge exotic car guy. I’d rather see a single killer classic than a parking lot full of 458’s, but that’s just my preference. The 918 caught me off guard because I could not stop staring. The exhaust outlets, the bright green calipers, and the taillights just had me stunned. It was so, so cool. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures from this month and I will be sure to share some more with you next month. Make sure to look up when a meet like this is happening near you!
