Virtually everything is better with turbines. We say “virtually” because we’re not sure a thrust driven jet ski is actually better than one propelled by the water jet propulsion that the “standard cruising models” use. Hell, we are not entirely sure that this thrust powered jet ski has ever touched the water before. It seems as though (by the wording of the eBay ad) that it was built as a display and promotional rig to be shown at places like CES, SEMA, and boat shows all over the country. It looks freaking nuts and it does seem to have some sound engineering behind it but would you really trust this thing out in the water? What happens if you are ripping along and you have the throttle cracked open, you catch a wave wrong, and the thing literally thrusts you into the sky? Maybe it is just us but, “I can see my house from here,” is not something we want to be saying while on a jet ski.
This thing is on the level of Zingers for dramatic curb appeal, though and the fabrication/construction work is top shelf. This was not some hacked up thing made to look like a beast that it isn’t. The amount of work that went into the creation of this beastly thing definitely points to the fact that it was designed and built to be ridden on the water. Judging by how nice and clean and new looking the stickers are on the hull, this thing has not seen many trips into and out of the lake, river, or ocean any time soon.
Brenhan Chapman found this and tipped us off to it!
Rather than run on and on, here’s the ad copy:
Yamaha Wave Runner This heavily Modified waverunner has been on display at SEMA twice, CES, The Masters Water Ski tournament, The Miami International boat show, And numerous other shows. It has been featured on MTV, HBO, and HBO Latin America.
SCROLL DOWN TO SEE SOME PHOTOS AND THEN HIT THE EBAY LINK –
Looks like a really nice piece of mancave art to me
So, basically all the hardware is there, just needs complete assembly.
How many watts would that stereo need to actually hear it over the turbine noise?
Re: James Bond
From all my searchings, I cannot find a single article or video that says this Jet Ski has ever been in the water – it’s a “what if” vehicle – a show vehicle.
IMO, it would be too powerful to be useful. Hit the “gas” and the rear end would dig in and launch the vehicle God knows how high.
I read most of the Bangshift speel about it and then clicked on the Ebay link – WTF.
Has this guy hit the zero button to many times or am I just out of touch with turbine powered jetskis?
At that price I’m surprised it hasn’t been snapped up, bargain.
(sarcasm intended)
should have used it in the fast and stupid movie, would have fit right in
