(Photo Credit: Greg Rourke) – Greg Rourke was on his way home from Merrill, Wisconsin after shooting the killer gallery of photos we just posted from the Ice Drags. He pulled off the highway in a small town and decided to spend some time exploring the back streets and alleys for some cool junk. Well, he may have outdone himself with this find. What you are looking at is a 1962 Rambler body mounted on some sort of 1-ton truck frame.
The body has what looks to be an old school ambulance light bar mounted on top of it, complete with the sirens! We have no idea if the light and sirens work, but that’s pretty much immaterial. As evidenced by the mechanical creativity of the guys at the Ice Drags, the winters are long in Wisconsin and all kinds of creations roll forth from shops that have beer coolers in them while the snow flies.
We’re thinking that the giant rear “bumper” is filled with some material for ballast. The plow is an old Fisher with the external hydraulic pump and power angle. We’re thinking this is a Ford chassis but it is pretty much a blind guess.
Who the hell would think to put a 1962 Rambler on top of a 4×4 chassis? Our hero. That’s who.
Thanks to Greg Rourke for the photos!
Do I see a note on the windshield left by Brian wanting to buy it? Yes, I think I do see one.
Just the thing for rush hour traffic
Extra bonus points if it has no muffler and smokes a little.
