(Photo Credit: Ed Quinlan) – After essentially living on top of a scaffolding structure for a couple days at Palm Beach International Raceway filming 300mph Top Fuel dragsters and Nitro Funny Cars, Chad and I had some unanswered questions about our rental car. Those questions were all centered around the ability of the heap to do a burnout.
Once we packed up all of our junk, broke down the scaffolding, and got ready to leave the track, we stopped by the tower quick to gain permission to put the rental-mobile into the water box and let ‘er rip. The vehicle that we used to lug ourselves and all of our myriad of equipment around in was a 2011 GMC Acadia. Power comes from GM’s 3.6L “high feature” V6.
We squirted some water on the track, disabled the traction control, and Chad set the emergency brake while mashing the gas pedal to the carpet.
The following photos illustrate the success level of this very scientific experience. You could probably see the smoke cloud from space.
VERY COOL GUYZ

Should have burned them to the cords. Are my eyes lying and showing Chad wearing shoes?
Should have burned them to the cords! Are my eyes lying to me, in that it appears Chad is wearing actual shoes?
Thats more smoke than when he did a burnout in his mom’s new 1994 Corvette 6 speed!!
