BangShift reader Ronnie Mankins sent us this wild photos of Oregon’s Woodburn Dragstrip under a few feet of water. We know of several strips that are built close to water and occasionally become ponds, streams, and rivers. Lebanon Valley Dragway in New York, Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the old Red River Raceway down in Louisiana, and a few others have done the whole aquatic life thing in the past.
Woodburn Dragstrip has been in business since 1961 and is certainly one of the nicest and fastest strips in the Pacific Northwest. What is neat about the place is that it opened as an eighth-mile strip and was lengthened to a full quarter-mile in the 1970s. In this photo, the only thing the place could host would be the airboat or hovercraft drags, but trust us, when you can see the asphalt, this place is fast.

Due to rising operational costs, and governmental sanctions, we will be eliminating the position of water hose operator in the bleach box. We believe that there will be a minimal impact to our customers but think in the long run the environmental and water conservationist’s will be quite pleased!
