Monday Time Killer: Aussie V8 Jet Sprint Super Boats

Few things are more insane and mind blowing than watching Aussie V8 Superboat racing. These boats, which make up to 1,200 hp by some accounts, are literally thrust along by a water jet unit beneath the boat and have no rudder. They accelerate like dragsters and turn like Formula One cars, on the freaking water.

The course is set up like some kind of crazy figure-eight, road-course, tilt-a-whirl ride, but it really accentuates the ability of these machines to accelerate in short bursts and turn. Our research says that these boats can pull 5-6 Gs in the turns!

The races can sometimes be seen on American TV as they seem to sneak on to places like SPEED during the winter racing doldrums. Once you do some reading from the website and view the video we’re putting below, you’ll want to know two things. Where do I get one, and where can I race it?

Below is some mind-blowing video of these killers in action!
