You can count this as a new one on us! The eBay ad promoting the sale of this unique 1968 Cadillac El Dorado-Camino gives no details as to the origins, construction, or inspiration for this evil looking cruiser. Our natural thought is that this thing was first intended to be a flower car or casket hauler for a funeral home but those vehicles usually have some stainless steel used to make the cargo bed look less like a cargo bed and this thing is wide open. There are some grab rails on the side and it has mirrors that look as though they were stolen from a Chevy truck hanging off the doors.
We think that the 1968 Eldorado is one of the best looking (and most evil looking) cars of all time. The nose of the thing, with its hidden headlights, and blacked out grill just have an air of menace to it that is seldom seen anywhere else. Combine that will all of the sharp lines and creases that the car has, from the shape of the tail lights to the tip of the hood and you have a very dramatic car. Being that the machine is front wheel drive, a flat load floor in the “bed” would be easy to achieve and it looks as though the strategy was to save the back glass while putting the “back wall” of the best right up behind the area that the driver and passenger sit in. Sure you can haul four people in this thing. They just need to ride in the bed…which would likely be comfy understanding how these were sprung back then.
472ci monster Caddy mill under the hood, the unkillable TH425 FWD transmission churning the tires, a suspension tuned to feel as though you were floating above the Earth, and looks that you’ll never see at another car show for as long as you live? Yeah, that’s the combo for something we would love to roll in. Would you? Cool or too weird? You make the call!

Only if it was resprayed in satin black……
Seriously . Shaved and de-chromed a bit as well .
Looks too much like a flower car…
It was very tastefully done.
Love it. And what’s with all of the GM front drives latly? They have been peppering MPLS CL for the last few weeks for pennies!
