eBay Find: A Dead Nuts Awesome KITT Replica With Two Issues – The Price and The Location

eBay Find: A Dead Nuts Awesome KITT Replica With Two Issues – The Price and The Location

There’s nary a BangShifter among us who didn’t love them some hot KITT action during the 1980s. Sure, David Hasseelhoff was the headline talent, but it was the Trans-Am he drove that owned the hearts of kids across the country (and even in places like Latvia and Albania when syndication took hold). The fanciful technology of early 1980s KITT is coming to life in modern cars that talk to us, give us directions, have pursuit mode buttons that cause them to leap airborne, and backup cameras. In reality, the car was a freaking pig. It was equipped with an LG4 305 and made like 160hp. Even Hasselhoff’s awesome hair wouldn’t save a stock KITT in a real life street race. There are garbage trucks quicker. But imagine if you had the ability to own one…not a real fake KITT from the show, but a fake fake KITT replica. Well, now you can, for the low, low price of $55,000 plus the shipping fees from Italy to your door! Wait, what? Yeah, the KITT we found for sale on eBay is located in Italy and  what’s ultra cool is that the car currently speaks Italian but the seller will reprogram the voice of the car to English at no extra charge. That’s value right there.

Putting aside the fact that this car is a barge with what appears to be a completely box stock engine, the KITT conversion stuff has been done to a very high level. The totality and attention to detail in this conversion goes above and way beyond anything we have ever seen. Most KITTs are nothing more than black Trans-Ams with the strobe light that goes back and forth, but this one is whole hog. From the correct interior colors, wheels, to the full pull KITT dash and butterfly style wheel, this thing is 100% detail perfect.

We don’t know where KITTs fall in the tv/movie replica car pecking order but we’re thinking that it is below the General Lee, Fall Guy Truck, A-Team Van, and Scooby Doo Mystery Machine. Who buys this thing for $55,000? Will it ever go up in value? I think that I’m the target guy here. Early 30s, grew up watching the show, owner of massive amounts of ‘Hoff merchandise, and a man of refined tastes. Not my speed, though. Nor is it my price range.

But for a movie car to have value, accuracy is everything…and that is one of the best KITTs I’ve ever seen. Just by that, he may have a shot of getting his money.

I suppose its a bit retarded to admit i loved my lg4 (180hp) in my 84 camaro when i was a teen?..

hey, anonymous, don’t feel bad–as a teen,i think we all had underpowered cars at one time or another—didn’t stop us from having fun with them, right? also, can you imagine the carnage if we all had had real movers?–p.s.,the dash in the kitt replica would give mr. spock a woodie

The “Knight Two Thousand” on the steering wheel needs to be removed. That was only used in the pilot car. This is a late season one design (as noted by the later KITT style voice box) and visible fog lights in front.

I dig it. Below the General Lee but well above the Mystery Machine for me. Weren’t there red/green lights on the gas pedal too? I’d take an LG4 (hey it’s got cold air induction from the hood) vs. Cross fire injection.

Cruising through town blasting the theme song….oh hell yes.
