It was a busy weekend for the RideTech crew at the Goodguys show in Columbus, Ohio hustling multiple cars around the autocross, helping people weigh their hot rods, and even helping people figure out what the best suspension options were for their particular ride. Maybe it is the right choice of shocks for your hot rod, and maybe it is the right level of bad ass for your Camaro, whatever questions were had, the RideTech crew answered them and helped to steer people in the right direction to make their cars more comfortable, capable, and fun to drive. That is what this is all about.
With a couple of Corvettes and a Camaro at their disposal, Chris Smith, Bret Voelkel, and Todd Green represented the company’s efforts on the autocross course and did so well. The Columbus event is always a literal cavalcade of stars as more than two dozen races attempted to vie for the pro class honors. Bret was really having fun in his barn find Corvette which is on a much less serious tire and powered by a much less serious engine than most of the iron at the event but with RideTech suspension bolted to it, the old ‘Vette managed to blow half the field into the weeds. Danny Popp ultimately took home the top honors in the category but everyone said it was a great time and 2016 promises to be even bigger and better as the pro touring world continues to develop and evolve.

GoodGuys Columbus Update
CLEAR SKIES, DRY TRACK, FAST TIMES
After being postponed Friday due to weather, the autocross action resumed Saturday morning once a few hot laps finished drying up the track. The PRO class consisted of 25 competitors at this event and their timed laps were run at the top of each hour throughout the day. The RideTech team finished in respectable placings considering the amazing amount of great cars and drivers in the field. Chris Smith was able to bring the 48-Hour Corvette into a 9th place finish with a 33.972, and records show Todd Green placing the 48-Hour Camaro in 10th position with a 33.995. Bret Voelkel pushed the 1964 “Barn Find” Corvette to a 19th place finish with a 35.012; this car has half the tire and half the horsepower of the rest of the field, and yet it still beat nearly half the competition! The crowds were spectacular, and so were the cars; both on the track and in the show. Tomorrow’s All-American Sunday will bring in some new competitors and the Austin Hatcher Foundation will continue the AutoCross For Kids benefit (putting you in the passenger with a pro-class driver!), so come out and grab a seat with the RideTech team! |
