(Photos: HO Phase Autos/Facebook) Just look at them. Two Aussie Falcons (I’m 90% sure they are XEs but I’m also sure that if I’m wrong, I’ll hear about it). One a brilliant red, one a dark green that is just stunning. Both sport one hell of a flared wide body kit and a rear wing that both looks fairly modern in design yet is unmistakably 1980s. One is packing a V8, one is packing a turbocharged six-cylinder that is just as potent. Choosing which car you’d drive would be difficult, wouldn’t it? These creations are built by HO Phase Autos, a company founded by Wayne Draper, a Ford Australia designer who had his hands in the designs of prior hot Falcons and was one of the principal proponents behind building performance Fords. When Ford decided to bail from racing, Draper bought the rights to the “HO” names and between then and his death in 2012, built some absolutely badass Falcons.
But look at the body shapes: most of the car’s shapes line up with the Fox platform’s overall shape and it smacks well of early 1980s Ford language. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but picture a 1982 Ford Granada with this bodykit adapted to it packing a 351 and five-speed. Or a box-top Fairmont 2-door. And don’t get me started with the ‘ute…finding a Ford Durango is already difficult enough, but one that looks like that packing a motor worth talking about? Yes, please.
Oh My God!
I could lick my laptop!
The natural home for one of these beautiful bodykits is a Fox-body Mustang – simples!
Just thought I’d tell you you’re right, they are XE Falcons!
The Aussies built some badass muscle cars.
Even though I have absolutely no use for any FORD….These actually look really good and I like the body kits. And being a huge of El Caminos I really like the Ranchero styled car/truck….
These were based fairly heavily on Group C racing bodywork (precursor to the V8 supercars) – do an image search on ` group c XE falcon ‘ – the road going versions look nice, but the racing ones look tougher again….
How about a crown vic in this style?
Better suspension,and engines..
I grew up in Australia and when I lived there my dad had an XD Fairmont (basically the same as these with a slightly different nose and of course missing the crazy flares). That inspired my love of boxy Fords and I have owned 5 different Fox-body LTDs, including my current one which has a 300+ HP 5.0L, 5-speed, and a ton of handling goodies.
While these cars aren’t related to Fox bodies at all, I’m 90% sure that the station wagon versions use the same rear hatch as Fox wagons here in the US. They look identical.
I love the wheels on the green XE. Any idea who makes them Aussie guys?
They appear to be widened or wider aftermarket replicas of the original XE ESP wheels.
BBS are the original manufacturers for the snowflake mags.
