The hair was big, the lifestyle was rampantly out of control, and the music was packing stadiums and arenas as big as were available in the late 1980s. Motley Crue was at the top of their game during that time and released one of the great gear jamming, full throttle inducing songs in rock and roll history with Kick Start My Heart. The song is a jam that band member Nikki Sixx wrote about his heart being blasted back into function with twin adrenaline shots after he overdosed on heroin.

While not specifically a “car song” in the classic sense, the lyrics talk about “getting high on speed” and “Top Fuel Funny Cars”. As such, the video is filled with clips of old school drag racing footage, wrecking stock cars, sky diving, and other extreme activities centered around adrenaline and speed.  You can prove your strength at drag knowledge by trying to ID as many cars as you can in the various clips that last about as long as an eye blink. Hey, it is New Year’s Eve so if you are at the office crank the speakers to 11 and get your day started right. This song has been used for tons of show openings at drag strips, monster truck shows, and other races. It is pretty much impossible to listen to this song without having your heart race pick up.
