Old Stock Car Goodness: The Historic Grand National Stock Car Association

We find old cars to be exceptionally bad ass. There are few things neater in our nostalgia lovin’ hearts than the big iron that raced on road courses and ovals during decades past. We’ve seen old restored stock cars in museums and at shows but we were tipped off to an organization that races them in the exact form they were raced in back when. Not like painted how they were, but literally constructed to the period that they represent.

The Historic Grand National Stock Car Association has a great website showing and telling lots about the cars that compete in the series. The stuff we’re digging the most are the photo galleries, showing the cars in action. We’re fairly certain that these guys are not banging sheet metal and sending each other into the wall, but they are out there thrashing on their cars, which is awesome.

Compared to today’s oval track competitors, these babies are like dump trucks, but glorious dump trucks they are.

A big thanks to BangShift.com reader Schtauffer for the tip!
