BangShift Daily Tune Up: “Truckin” The Grateful Dead (1970) “What a long, strange trip it’s been”

This is a first folks. The Dead on BangShift.com. Wow, this might be as big a deal as this song being listed as a National Treasure by the Library of Congress in 1997. Ahhh, our tax dollars at work, and the amazing effects of acid. What a combo. For me, the Dead are just an old band I can’t stand listening to. Partly because growing up in Northern California they were so big and all the hipster wanna be kids thought they needed to listen to them and then get high to be cool, and partly because I just think they are pretty boring.

But hey, this is one of the most popular songs they ever did thanks to the thinly veiled line “What a long, strange trip it’s been”, so what do I know. Dead heads rejoice, the Dead is NOT dead here at BangShift.com!

“For me, the Dead are just an old band I can’t stand listening to.”

    Same.

“Dead heads rejoice, the Dead is NOT dead here at BangShift.com!”

    That’s unfortunate.

Whether you like it or not, they’re a part of the history of Rock. Maybe a better choice would be a ” Touch of Grey” by the Dead.

rough childhood? How can this song not be up there with *ing Stairway to Heaven and Freebird? You’ve only heard it about a gozillion times. It doesn’t irritate me as much as Hotel to California. What next? Life in the Fast Lane?

man… I thought just about everything was cool here at Bangshift. I didn’t realize we had an Intolorerant at the top.

hipster wannabe cool guy comments struck a nerve.. or several apparently. No worries. Each to their own.
