Good news coming from the Buick division of General Motors. A high performance version of the new Regal, appropriately dubbed the GS, will be available for purchase. Details of its release, final horsepower numbers, and option package have not been shared as of yet, but speculation points to about 255hp and a six speed manual transmission.
This will be the first exciting car that Buick has produced in some time. According to a story in The Detroit News, the average age of a Buick buyer was 72 years old! That number has dropped to 65, which is still creepy but not horrific.
The drive train may feature a 2.0L turbocharged engine hooked to a 6-speed manual transmission which has us thinking. What was the last Buick available with a stick? Our mental research library seems to think that it’s been about 30 years since Buick sold a model available with a 4-speed, let alone six-cogs.
We think that this is the right move for Buick to make. They’re chasing younger buyers and they are not going to get them with most of their current lineup. Hell, when you openly admit that your average buyer is 72 years-old, there’s a problem!
We’ll take ours in black please.
