If you followed our coverage of the 2013 NHRA New England Nationals last weekend, thanks! The race was a historic occurrence in the New England region as it was the first time that the top level of NHRA drag racing had ever visited that chunk of the country. There was lots of pent up demand for the event because the drag strip was filled with capacity crowds every single day that the gates were opened up. We were arriving at the track at about 6am each day to beat the traffic jams and even then there would be 200-300 people lined up at the gate waiting for their chance to get in. It was as close to a “Woodstock of drag racing” experience as we’ve ever had and we’re sure that the track, New England Dragway made some serious bank over those four days. Horray for that. A financially healthy drag strip is a happy drag strip.
Our pals over at CompetitionPlus.com made this video and we got to sneak peek it in the media center. We dig the way it portrays all aspects of the event from the traffic jams, to the drivers, to the fantastic action that marked this first ever event. It is a great watch and it will give you some sense of just how jam packed the race track was last weekend. Hell, it was the largest crowd in the 47 year history of the track. What’s cooler than that?!
