(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – When we arrived another photographer (‘Meatball’ Mark Portman) had the nostalgia cars arranged on the finish line for a photo op and was snapping away. By the time we hurdled the fence the cars were firing up and heading back to the pits. We did catch a few before all of them were gone. One thing about going to older, less-mainstream tracks is that you see some interesting and unique vehicles. Another aspect is that you see fewer late models and the majority of the cars are from the old muscle car era.
Reminds me of when I was younger going to tracks elsewhere. There is plenty of space at US-60 with no real restrictions on where you choose to park. There are bleachers on both sides and the concession stand has good food and a covered area to sit and enjoy. It got rather chilly that night so we can verify their hot chocolate is very much both.
Some to mention in this group of photos:
Straight-axle ’68 Camaro
The ‘Sour Kraut’ bug
A fresh-looking AMX
Slick, white Cobra Torino
Nitro-fueled Lowhorn pit bike
Enjoy.
