This Weirdo “Back Half” Chevy Dually Has Us Both Confused And In Love – What’s The Deal?

This Weirdo “Back Half” Chevy Dually Has Us Both Confused And In Love – What’s The Deal?

Admittedly we’re not fully grasping the whys of this truck but damn it if we’re not in love with the look. The 1965 Chevrolet truck started out as a one ton “3+3″ cab (three guys across the front three guys across the back) and somewhere along the line, this 454, four speed rig got modified into this. The truck is two wheel drive and up front is a pair of pretty street looking radials. Out back there’s an entire tube chassis setup, massive 42” bloggers, Walker Evans remote shocks, and a ton of great fabrication. So what the hell is this thing? A head turner, a head scratcher, and something we’re totally in love with.

The lack of rear fenders may get you in hot water in some states (like the horrid Commonwealth in which I reside) but covering up all that work would kill the vibe of the whole truck so it should forever remain bedless for as long as it exists on Earth. Nothing much was said about the engine and transmission so we’re guessing that they are largely stock. For reasons that are patently obvious, the truck is called “Booty”.

The natural question becomes, “what do you do with it?” and I think that is kind of lame. I’d drive this thing every day, take it to cruise nights, and all of that stuff. At minimum it would be awesome just to sit there and have the same mental wrestling match that we’re having over what the hell the actual purpose of this rig is. We’re going on record now saying that we dig it and that we’d love to have it. We’ll figure the rest out later.

That makes the easy questions – Do you like the look? What would YOU do with it?

What is the winch for…it’s too light to pull the “truck” out of the mess you might drive into? Someone…someone.

The winch makes me think the truck was built for something specific, but I can’t imagine what. Maybe it was used at mud bogging events for pulling the smaller vehicles out when they got stuck?

I can’t be the only one who is thinking “Weld a draw bar on this SOB and take it to a tractor pull!” Can I?

I believe the winch is used to pull the frame down, much like rock crawlers do. It looks like it is a nylon rope style that goes through the ring and to the frame. Why they did not use a shackle, I do not know. First photo you can see it better.

I’m confused but NOT in love!

I’m confused as to why people like the builder of this hunka shit are still allowed to draw breath or are not securely locked up in insane asylums!

    Do I like it? NO.
What would I do with it? Find a good stock frame and bed (even a flat bed) and fix this mess.
This dumb new trend of making everything look as ridiculous as possible started out with rat rods (which were cool for a brief moment 10 years ago with the first few truly patina\’d rats). Since people started faking the patina (horribly, like that awful Welderup show), and welding on every piece of junk they could find buried behind the barn, rats were out. Sorry. Now these monstrosities are popping up. Kill them with fire!

1965…..and bLoggers…..lol….Brian needs a nap! I think she’s badass….as long as it has line lock ad enough juice to boil those bLoggers…. I’d be happy as hell when the first Prius pulled up behind me!!!

This is bad ass and yes he has time on his hand ! If you go the money why not . he does. His fab work is incredible and winch is to pull it down . he is building a truck for me and looking good !!!! Old school with new technology. Just saying.

I especially like the hitch receiver attached directly to the rearend. Get all those road bumps and vibrations right into the trailer. I’m sure it will be ok.
