As we speak, the Buckeye Bullet Electric Streamliner, is slowing down from setting a new FIA speed record of 291 mph on the famed salt of Bonneville. The team stayed for a private FIA record attempt and has been on the salt for the past couple of days. SCTA Impound and Records Official Dan Warner has been keeping us updated. After running 288 on Sunday, the team was unable to make a return run in the FIA alotted 60 minutes that was enough to break the record. At 166, it wasn’t getting the job done.
Another attempt Sunday afternoon was thwarted due to high winds, but they were able to run Monday morning and ran 277. They decided not to backup this run, and waiting for another shot at it this afternoon where they ran 286 mph. Their return run past the flying mile was 297 miles per hour, which gave them a record of 291 mph and change.
The Buckeye Bullet is the World’s Fastest Electric Vehicle, and holds records at the SCTA/BNI events at Bonneville, as well as FIA records. For more information on the Buckeye Bullet, the team, and their plans for the future, click this link.
Major thanks to our man on the salt, Dan Warner (dwarner230 on the BangShift.com Forums), for the immediate heads up reporting. He deserves some kind of award for this…LOL
