If the game plan stands, there will be more than one Force girl in the seat of a Nitro Funny Car in 2011. Courtney Force, Ashley Force’s younger sister is advancing from her A/Fuel dragster into a flopper. According to a story on USAToday.com penned by Courtney Force she hopes to make some actual laps in the car by the end of the 2010 season.
Courtney has been going through “Funny Car 101” this season and will be moving to a more hands on portion of the training soon. She’s been steering the car as it has been towed around the race shop and next will sit in it while it is running and being warmed up. After that it is practicing backing up the track and ultimately, making some hits on the throttle.
She has proven herself to be a capable driver, especially after a scary incident in Seattle when we dragster cut a tire down through the lights, lost half the wing, and did everything it could possibly do to wreck. She drove the hell out of the car and kept it off the wall.
