Dragstrip Destroyed: Holly Springs Motorsports Seemingly Blown To Pieces By Tornado

One of the country’s quickest and fastest eighth mile drag strips has been decimated by a tornado. Holly Springs Motorsports in Holly Springs, Mississippi was struck on Wednesday by a very strong tornado that not only leveled the track but also leveled the home of the folks that operate the track, Terry and Carol Forsythe. The photos below were taken by a man named Jeff Reed and they have been making the rounds on social media. Initial efforts are already being coordinated to help the Forsythe family with the basic needs of life after suffering a calamity such as this. We’re going to keep you up to date on their situation and how you can help if you are so inclined.

The track has established itself as one of the premier small tire facilities in the country and over the last few seasons there have been some really awesome races held on the eighth mile at Holly Spring Motorsports. As they have suffered a severe trauma (thankfully in the emotional sense more than the physical as both Carol and Terry as OK) the thoughts of “what happens to the race track now” are likely not even on the front page of the things they are facing immediately.

Our heart breaks for the racers of Holly Springs the people who lost property, possessions, and in at least one case a life. We’re going to keep up on this one and keep abreast of developments as they come.
