Small Slicks, Two Engines, And 360-Degrees Plus! Watch The Evil Twin Spin On The Strip And Hit Nothing

Rocky Phillips is a heck of a guy. The driving force behind the famed Eagle Field Drags and the guy who built the awesome Evil Twin dragster shown in this video at his home shop, he has the drag racing fever really bad! He has taken the Evil Twin all over the country to nostalgia races and cool events. This video is a couple of years old and it was taken at the yearly Mooneyes Christmas Party. We’ve provided coverage from that event for years and it really is a blast. Rocky had a whole lot more going on during this pass than he expected!

Running on old school slicks and with those twin small block Chevys, the Evil Twin is not designed to be an elapsed time machine but rather a tire smoking showboat. It looks like the two crew people on the car wiped the tires down with some water or something. If the goal is to get them busted loose and smoking this makes sense. The wide front track of the car normally lets Rocky get it all kinds of sideways without worry but in this case the car started to swing like a pendulum and he could not bring it back.

Thankfully the racer in the other lane broke his dragster on the burnout so he was not anywhere near the excitement that Phillips was experiencing. Had the guy been in the other lane this would go from kind of a light hearted and fun video to a full on catastrophe. We know that Rocky has had some wild rides in his car but we’re guessing that this trip down the eighth mile at Irwindale was the wildest. We’re sincerely glad it was a solo!

Press play below to see the Evil Twin spin out at Irwindale – He didn’t hit anything!

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

Dancing dragster and an awesome soundtrack!

I wonder what the ET would be in a straight line – but that wouldn’t be so much fun would it?
