(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – Here we are again at the Kentucky Exposition Center for a view of the Carl Casper Show. We’ve got 4 galleries offering some familiar rides and plenty of new ones. This first installment has a variety of speed-inspired rides. A new ProMod was being unveiled and it certainly looks to have all the right stuff. Several of the Straight-Axle Mafia were on hand to represent Kentuckiana’s gassers. One of my favorites in here is Steve Glotzbach’s Corvette hauling his equally-impressive F.E.D. This is no staged shot….its the real deal.
Last fall we witnessed Steve’s F.E.D . running at US-60 Dragway and hoisting the front tires for a good distance. This time I got some better photos of the black ’69 Chevelle from the Cincinnati Autorama. Check the trim on the stretched rear wheel openings. Lastly we bring you the Portman family ’57 Chevy that completed a mechanical restoration last year and is back tearing up the strip again. This is the real deal and not a recreation of a long-lost family racer from back in the day. Its nice to see some folks keep the past around for the rest of us to enjoy.
Can anyone tell me how to reach the owner of the black and gold ’55 Chevy. I’m looking for help with a 4 bar set up on the front of my ’55.
