Chrysler Registers the Word Cuda as a Trademark, We Dunno Why

The website AllPar.com, known for being 100% Par and free of any artificial fillers is reporting that the Chrysler Corporation has registered the word “Cuda” as an official trademark. There has been no official announcement made for the reason behind the trademark, but there are a few different directions it could go.

The least sexy of those directions would be for toys and merchandise. If the company were interested in making scale models of classic ‘Cudas from back in the day, they’d need this trademark to sell the models as official Chrysler merchandise. That would also conceivably allow them to charge more for them.

The far “more better” direction would be that Chrysler is considering the production of a special ‘Cuda edition of the Challenger. Sure, the Plymouth purists would freak out, but let’s face it, Chrysler has already slapped two extra doors on the Challenger and they sell a pent-roof headed motor as a Hemi, so the whole “purity” horse has long escaped the corral.

We’ll keep our ears to the tracks on this one. There have been lots of cool conceptual ‘Cuda designs out there (which we think look WAY better than the retro Firebirds we’ve seen) that would probably sell like hot cakes.
