You’ve probably heard the name Keith Turk before. If you read Hot Rod Magazine, you’ve seen his ugly mug racing at Bonneville, Loring, Maxton, and anywhere else dudes and dudettes strive to haul ass. He’s also the guy tasked with enforcing the rules on Drag Week, and he drinks like elevendy billion Diet Cokes a day. He also has a thing for 1970s motorcycles. That bike jag lead to the idea for an awesome road trip with four buddies that Keith documented in an entirely entertaining thread. Hell, three out of four riders are BangShifters!
There are several awesome parts to this story. The first being that Turk somehow came to own four brown 550cc Honda bikes. They were each a little different and a couple of them were bought as parts bikes but they were in such good shape, he simply repaired them and got ’em road worthy. Each bike is a little different (a fairing here, a fender there) and through the course of the trip, each man had a turn on each bike.
They cruised out of Enterprise, Alabama and made it down south of the border. Along the way there was adventure, adversity, and finally a bike that was shooting four foot flames out of the hole where the dip stick formerly resided. If you are into road trip stories, this is one you simply cannot miss. You’ll be on the phone with your buddies by the end of the read, searching for some crusty old bikes or a crusty old car to hit the road with.
Well done Turk, well done.
