Autoweek Leaks Photos Of 2015 Mustang Ahead Of Ford Reveal – Here It Is!

December 5th was the planned reveal of the new Mustang, Autoweek managed to leak photos of it today. Someone blasted photos of a copy of the magazine and leaked the photos. We’re guessing Ford is pissed. Apparently the photos hit the web on SVTPerformance.com.

Here’s the car:

I thought they were done with the retro styling? That said, why does it look like a 370Z? I like it but I don’t , I’ll have to see one in person

    My critique:

Nose: HATE that honeycomb look. Open it up like the Shelby, or find a finer mesh material. That looks cheesy. Looks like it has an underbite shape to the nose (to conform to EU pedestrian strike rules) but until I see a better rendition, I’m holding judgement. As I have been suggesting since the ’05 model, move the markers into the inboard corners of the headlights. The front markers have looked like afterthoughts for too long.

Side: I keep seeing Porsche Cayman merged with first-gen 350Z here. Part of that might be due to the magazine fold. Not sure yet.

Rear: Blackout panel is nice, and a good way to ditch the fake gas cap treatment. Liking the placement for the reverse light too. The C-pillars could have spread more toward the shoulder line instead of looking VW-esque in shape.

Now, let’s see this thing in action.

The wheelbase looks really short but, again, that could be the fold. That would be the easy way to lose the claimed 200 pounds.

The tail looks like a Saleen body kit.

Car & Driver leaked this over a month ago . . . cover story.

Back seat headroom (none to generous in the old car) looks to take another hit. Challenger and Camaro will have the advantage here, most likely.

I love the honeycomb. But the lower facia is too “tuner.”

I wonder if BMW will like the Hofmeister Kink on that C-pillar.

Still glad I bought a 2012 Coyote and didn’t wait for the flimsy IRS experiment.

The real million-dollar question, will it sell in the EC and “down under?” Or are we looking a the last of its kind?

Nissan Z looking roofline simply ruins the car, IMO. Shame. They probably hired the same guy to design it since car companies don’t keep the same stylist around long these days.

I like it. You have to imagine it with your selection of aftermarket goodies. Billit grille, body kit, spoilers, tint, maybe a drop, if there’s room…, but until I see the price none of that matters. If it affordable? And does it run like standing?

Looks good. Modern but unmistakable mustang cues. Since I see no 5.0 badges, I must assume this is the premium v6.

  8. Dan Stokes

Nope, you guys missed it. Try about a ’76 Celica. Which looked like a Mustang. So maybe they’ve gone full circle.

All in all I don’t mind it but I don’t buy new cars anyway.

at first I thought this looked like they were just putting a fusion front end on a 2014 mustang, but upon further review-it’s a fusion clip on an oversized subaru brz body. yet i am sure there will be loads of comments in every story on bangshift about a gm product about how awesome the new shelby’s will be.

living in a college town near a military base (not a knock on kids with rich daddy’s or G.I.’s) mustangs, and shelby’s are everywhere………= BORRRRRRRRRRINGGGGGGGGG

seeing the used SRT8 Dodge Magnum (still not that exciting of a car) on a local car lot is more exciting to me than seeing a new GT whatever Mustang

Mustang is a Mustang is a Mustang

“Billit grille, body kit, spoilers, tint, maybe a drop, if there’s room”

Body kit? That car looks like one big body kit! 3 rear bumpers, side skirts, and front chin spoiler. The cars not horrible. I could live with most of the styling, but that rear end…good lord! Too much junk in the trunk!

  11. RockJustRock

Those look like renders. No roofline can be that low. The rest of the car looks bloated in comparison.

  12. Charlie Safari

And its meant to be the new Mad Max Interceptor too, I believe the words your looking for are “Absolute fail”

What were ford thinking? Mustang II anyone?

  13. Matt

I’m not a Ford guy, but I liked the look of the last generation. This one is UGLY. No chance of converting me now!

  14. Paul

Looks OK. 200lbs lighter. GT should run 12.60s with drag radials. Will the independent rear end hold up ? or is it like the Camaro’s piece of junk.
