Oh, be still my heart. I have a soft spot for the second-generation AMC Javelins when done right, because that coke-bottle shape is just freaking sexy. Look at it…from the nose to the tail, it has so much going for it. It might not be as lithe as the older, smaller car but do you really care? Seriously?
Let’s take a look at what you’re getting into here: A .030 over 401 is in the engine bay and sports forged Speed Pro pistons, Edelbrock aluminum heads, a Comp Cams 280H cam, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Edelbrock air gap aluminum intake, Mallory HEI ignition, Milodon oil pan with remote filters, hardened pushrods, aluminum water pump, and aluminum radiator with twin electric fans, and that’s just some of the goodies. Bolt it up to a close-ratio four-speed manual (doesn’t say what type) with a Centerforce clutch and a resurfaced flywheel. Out back, you have a Twin-Grip with 3.15 gears, and a set of 4.11s will come with the car.
17×8 front and 17×11 Vintage Wheel Works pieces are wrapped in 245- and 315-series Nitto tires sit at the corners, and the Javelin is stopped with Aerospace Engineering rotors, a Wilwood master cylinder and a factory brake booster. Polyurethane bushings, an Addco front sway bar, WSC coil over front suspension and a lowering job have the Javelin sitting like Penske’s own Trans-Am racer. The power is there, the look is there, and the chance to own this beast is present. Laguna Seca, Silver State Classic, or the next Goodguys Autocross…which one would you do first?

Not another one!
What are you guys trying to do to me?
This car is almost perfect – but did whoever sprayed it simply mix all the left-over paint up to produce this “colour”? Try it with cheap water colours and you’ll see where I’m coming from. Still that’s a bargaining point as it requires a respray in a proper colour (preferably black). I love the Minilite wheels that always looked better on large American cars – these days you find them slung on rusty smoke-trailing small British motors in a pathetic attempt to make them look “cool”….
I agree with you on the color. I’d like to see a RWB paint scheme that would make Donohue proud.
Nicely done. Automatically qualifies as cool since it’s a Javelin. I always preferred the 1st generation Javelins, though. Just find it difficult to get over the “humps” over the front wheels (hence, aficionados refer to these as “Humpsters” ) 1st Gen VS 2nd Gen folks always squabble over their cars’ attributes but at the end of the day most all agree they are, every one of them, “cool”
Javelins (or AMXs for thst matter) always look good with Minilite wheels. It screams Trans Am racing sitting still! I wish I could afford a car like that since its pretty much perfect.
I quite like the color (or Colour depending on your side of the pond) it’s sedate and clean. I love how smooth everything looks…just really simple and clean….if I were a rich man…
Nice thing about e-bay is you could probably find a factory dash and a heater box before the car hauler brought the Javelin to your door.
