Morning Symphony: A 500+ Horse Camaro SS Blasting Through The Canyons

Morning Symphony: A 500+ Horse Camaro SS Blasting Through The Canyons

It’s my “love it and hate it” car, one I’ve almost pulled the trigger on twice. The 1996-2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS was my teenage lust, the new car I wanted badly, and could you blame me? Over 300 horsepower in 1996, a six-speed, T-tops (don’t judge me), and a connection to my first car, a 1975 Camaro. Back then, I didn’t know the front fenders heat-warped like Tupperware left out in the Arizona sun, that the interior was made of the same plastics Little Tykes used to make the Cozy Coupe, and that changing the plugs on one of these F-bodies was right up there with punching yourself in the nether regions, over and over, until you realize what a mistake you made. But when I see, and more importantly hear, a nasty F-body that isn’t ragged out to the edge of the earth, there is still a little corner of my mind that kicks me for passing up on the chance. And right now, that same inner voice is reading me up one side and back down the other after watching Matt Farah rip this one around for a One Take video. When he has to remind the owner to speak up over the sound of the exhaust, that’s when the inner voice slaps me and screams out, “It could have been you!”
