Now THIS is completely mental. The video you will see below is a compilation of 10 crashes that Sean Melton at Urban Hillbilly Action Videos has decided are the scariest he has ever witnessed. That is saying something because as a guy who has been aiming video cameras at drag strips for like 20 years now or something, he has seen some STUFF. These wrecks span the years. You will see cars that you have not seen in a long, long time, you will see tracks that have really changed a lot over the decades, and you will see 10 wrecks where the driver survived and recovered…somehow. A couple of these look like they would not be survivable under most circumstances.
There are things in this video that seemingly defy the laws of physics. The wreck filmed at Kennedale, Texas which sees a Corvette pro mod jump a wall and then vault itself back onto the race track because the driver’s foot landed on the throttle at the correct instant is incredible. The flying Mustang at SGMP is one that will be on highlight reels for ever as is the Eddie Timal crash from Orlando in 2006. That’s the one where the guardrail turned into a launch ramp and sent Timal and his car barrel rolling dangerously close to spectators who would have basically been mowed down by his tumbling car.
The truly terrifying moments in this video are the ones where Melton was himself at grave risk. Two or three times in this fury there are cars over the wall and rolling, tumbling, flipping right toward him and his camera position. He’s the first responder at a few of them! The Camaro that rides the wall past him is something you will not soon forget. None of this is something you will soon forget.
Race at a track with Armco guardrails and you’ll regret it. If you live. This is stupid beyond words. In fact, copy NASCAR soft walls and save a life!
The fact that some of the drivers just will NOT lift, some of the crashes did not have to happen.
