Here’s some insane video that comes from the always wild Sturgis Bike Week gathering. What you are about to see is legendary motorcycle builder and longtime motorcycle racer Roland Sands drive onto the stage piloting an Indian Hoolign flat track racing bike. Like the majority of flat track bikes in the world, this one is not equipped with a front brake and you can hear the announcer tell the crowd that. Apparently this one was not equipped with a rear brake either because Sands runs right off the elevated stage into the crowd!
There were a few injuries but they were not life-threatening. That’s kind of a miracle because the place was jam packed full and you can see the motorcycle head right off the end of the stage and into the sea of people. There’s been no official report released about what caused the problem with the motorcycle but this is rough stuff.
We have seen plenty of people fall off a stage but we have never seen someone drive off one! Thankfully it didn’t end worse.
Perhaps the instructional video “how to leave a car show in your Mustang without crashing or hurting anyone” needs to be expanded a bit…
I’m sorry. Legendary? This guy isn’t a legendary bike builder, nobody even knew who he was until the discovery channel started those build off programs.
I’m guessing it was his expert craftsmanship which propelled him into his Milwaukee Nose Dive.
With any luck, the credit card bikers he flattened were all lawyers. So I guess some good could have come out of this incident.
Jenny beat me to it. This guy isn’t “legendary” except maybe in his own mind. He piggy-backed on his dad’s company, Performance Machine. I don’t think he’s earned anything other than maybe, “noted, silver-spoon-in-hand custom motorcycle stylist”…
The greatest irony is that Performance Machine is famous for their brakes. Nice work!
I don’t think he’s earned anything other than maybe, “noted, silver-spoon-in-hand custom motorcycle stylist”…
Except- oh I don’t know-maybe an AMA road racing championship….
Roland…. is that you???
Who ?
