Our Last Cool Photos From The Courthouse Square Cruise – Paris, Kentucky

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – Small town cruises are a great way to spend an afternoon or evening seeing some cool stuff and meeting great people.  No judging, no stress, no rush.  Whether you prefer to take a shady seat near your car or stroll around checking out others’ stuff, it’s the laid-back atmosphere we enjoy the most.  We’ll just mention a couple things in this gallery.  We followed this snotty-sounding Gran Torino into town and then sought it out later after losing track while parking.  It was hard to get a good photo with all the folks that kept checking it out, but eventually waiting paid off.

The slotted wheels and vinyl top make this thing a timeless street machine.  Another car that caught our eye was one of a sort I can remember from my youth.  Yeah, the styling might be dated and the turbo 301-poncho is generally considered one of the worst engines GM ever built, but……when I was a teen this was one of THE cars kids my age drooled over.  The fire chicken on the hood, the ‘turbo’ wheels, and the engine turned dash were all the rage back then.  Examples of clean, late 2nd-gen F-bodies are few and far between so we have to give kudos to folks who will save at least one for future generations to view.  Classy ride in my book.

Enjoy.
