Now this is some small block music straight from the horsepower heavens. You are going to watch a 400ci small block Chrysler hemi engine make a rip saw of a dyno pull at Bob Book Racing Enterprises. This engine is soon to be headed to the NHRA Comp Eliminator B/Altered machine of Brandon Huhtala and it’ll be racing at the NHRA Northwest Nationals. The car has been in the 6.90s at nearly 200mph. We’re not talking 194mph. Nope, we’re talking about 199.87 worth! That’s in a 2,500lb car with no blower, no nitrous, and only 400 angry cubic inches doing all the work.
NHRA Comp Eliminator has been in the spotlight for varying reasons this season. The class has not been drawing big fields and there’s a movement among the competitors to get the word out that they’re far from dead. So far that has yielded some results. More notoriety for racers around the country, more media coverage, and more people understanding that Comp Eliminator is some of the greatest drag racing that you will ever see.
I’m looking forward to seeing this little monster attack Pacific Raceways in a few weeks at the close of the western swing. Hopefully there’s some cool dry air and the trees are pumping out that oxygen rich air around the track. If the stars line up we could see some real numbers flying out of this guy!
